Karana Community

Karana Community is an aged care facility located in a quiet suburban street in leafy Kew. The name Karana was adopted for the Home and it is an aboriginal word meaning “place of peace and rest from work”

Accommodation at Karana comprises of 76 residential aged care beds, both high and low care and 20 apartments onsite for those who are able to live independently within the community. There is also one respite bed available.

Residents are accommodated in single spacious rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Each wing has a kitchenette, dining room and sitting rooms with pleasant outlooks over the many courtyard gardens.

Meals are prepared onsite by the chef and are designed to offer residents a variety of choices as well as considering their dietary needs and preferences.

Individualised care is provided by a team of dedicated registered nurses, personal care workers and therapy staff, who consult with residents and their families in order to work together as a team to meet the needs and preferences of the residents.

Karana’s activity program is designed to be varied and interesting with a mix of group and individual activities, tailored to suit the residents’ interests.  The walls of the building are adorned with the very innovative artwork of its residents.

Families and friends are welcome to join in and there are regular visits from local entertainers. Sessions from our talented music therapist are a highlight of the program.
