200 Attend Abercare Artwork Launch!

Over 200 excited children, proud parents and other community members, attended Abercare’s ‘I Dream Artwork Launch’ on Wednesday the 29th of August, where the top 50 pieces of art from the competition were on display.
“The artwork competition has been an enormous success, with a wide range of insightful pieces of art received, reflecting a range of dreams,” CEO Jeff Davey said. “We at Abercare are honoured to have these works on display at our facility and will gain many years of enjoyment from them.”
The competition provided grade 5/6 students of four local schools and Abercare clients with an opportunity to express their dreams and flaunt their talents. Winning works are now permanently on display at Abercare’s office in Moonee Ponds, creating a more pleasant environment for the children and families who visit.
A range of people from the community helped make the event possible including local businesses that assisted with prizes and framing.
“Foster children have many different life experiences and the art competition was a great opportunity for these children to express those experiences that sometimes cannot be put into words”, Mr Davey said.
“While this artwork competition has been a great way for Abercare to connect with local schools and the community, it has also been an important means of conveying the message that there will always be children within the Moonee Valley area that urgently need Foster Carers to provide safe, secure and caring homes during times of difficulty,” he said.
