Baptcare’s Western Metropolitan Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) office, located in Sunshine, was officially opened on the 5th of March.

The new office was opened with sixty members of the local community in attendance including suppliers, other service providers, staff and clients.

Mr Bill Shorten, MP for Maribyrnong and Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children’s Services spoke about the need and importance of Baptcare’s services in the community and the emotional commitment of Baptcare’s staff to their clients.

Mr John O’Dea, a client of Baptcare, who is currently on an EACH package, thanked Baptcare for the wonderful service he receives.

Apart from celebrating the growth of Baptcare there was also the chance to celebrate the service of three long-standing staff members of the Western Metropolitan office. They were presented gifts and certificates for their commitment to ‘bringing care to life’ over the years.

The Western office offers cares for 107 elderly individuals through a combination of community aged care packages (CACP), extended aged care at home packages (EACH) and extended aged care at home (Dementia) packages (EACH D).

The Western office began serving the community in 1998 and was the first and only Melbourne office selected to pilot EACH packages at this time.

Success in recent funding rounds and growth as a result of greater demand for Baptcare’s services in the Western region has seen the Western metropolitan community packages team grow from an initial two staff, to a current team of 11.

At Baptcare we consider ourselves very lucky to have grown so much over the last ten years and are very thankful to all who attended to celebrate the opening with us.
