Baptcare has received a total of 121 community packages in the 2007 Aged Care Allocation Round, announced by Christopher Pyne, Minister for Aging, on September 13th.

The 121 new packages represent an impressive 12.6% of the total number of packages allocated across Victoria.

“Significantly, the number of packages allocated to Baptcare was the largest to a single provider in Victoria for the fifth year running, which further strengthens our position as the leading provider of community care packages in Victoria” said Baptcare’s Acting Chief Executive, Vincent Bucci.

Packages are allocated to providers who are best able to demonstrate their ability to provide high quality aged care services to the community.

The allocation means that Baptcare’s Community Aged Care services will expand by a further 40 Community Aged Care packages (CACP), 36 Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) packages, and 45 Extended Aged Care at Home packages for people with Dementia (EACH D), lifting Baptcare’s total number of community packages to 1156 (758 CACP, 283 EACH and 115 EACH D).

“The mix of packages allocated will allow us to increase our community aged care services, in particularly for those with higher care needs” Mr Bucci said.

The new packages will have an important impact on individuals in the local community, some who have been waiting for over 12 months for a vacancy to arise.

”The allocation follows a similarly strong 2006 ACAR result, and we are absolutely delighted, especially considering the growing competition for allocations in every round,” Mr Bucci said.
